Dr Dominic Luckett BA, DPHIL, FRSA, FHA, FCCT
Dominic took up his appointment as CEO of the Sherborne Schools group and Headmaster at Sherborne School in January 2016. He received a congratulatory first class degree in History from the University of Leicester and then studied for his doctorate on Henry VII at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Dominic taught for eleven years at Harrow School, where he was Head of History and an Assistant Housemaster, before moving to Worth School as Deputy Head. In 2007, he became Headmaster of Mill Hill, an HMC coeducational day and boarding school in north London, and Chief Executive of the Mill Hill School Foundation comprising the senior, prep, pre-prep and international schools. He has published various articles on early Tudor history, is a governor of a number of local schools and was member of the Council of the University of Leicester, the university’s governing body, between 2009 and 2018. In September 2019, he was named Best Head of a Public School at the Tatler awards.
His interests include music, antique clocks, indoor rowing and, when time allows, skiing and paragliding. Dominic is married to Cara, a barrister specialising in clinical negligence, and they have two young daughters, Charlie and Jemima.
Natalie Bone started at Sherborne Prep School as Head, in September 2021. Born in London with a move to Dorset after meeting husband Matt who is an Old Shirburnian. Natalie has been Head at Sidcot Junior School, Houseparent and teacher of Mathematics at Millfield School and Head of Mathematics and Houseparent at Millfield Preparatory School. Natalie has a degree in Economics from the University of Reading and before entering teaching enjoyed a successful career in finance and investment, and dressage training and competition. Natalie and Matt have two grown up children and a menagerie of four legged friends. Natalie's passion and energy for engaging learning and outstanding pastoral care drive her dedication to provide an outstanding contribution to children’s lives.
Deputy Head (Academic)
After a catholic grammar school in Bolton, Daniel moved to Eliot College, Canterbury to study Physics with computer science. Having completed a PGCE at Trinity College, Oxford, Daniel’s first teaching post was in North London where he ran the physics department for two years before deciding to move abroad to take up a post at the British School of Milan before returning to England to become an assistant housemaster at a boarding school in Berkshire. Daniel has written science books at both Common Entrance and G.C.S.E. level, and has set exam papers for AQA ‘A’ level physics exam board. All of Daniel’s three children have gone through the Prep, thoroughly enjoying their time. Daniel’s wife, Donna, is a teacher of English in a prep school in Dorchester.
Designated Safeguarding Lead & Deputy Head (Pastoral)
With a Degree in English and Classics from University of Nottingham and qualified teacher through Nottingham Trent, Annie has just completed a MEd in Educational Leadership. Annie oversees the pastoral care at the School and has a passion for good mental health and emotional well-being. She runs the Personal Development of all pupils in the school and also teaches senior English. A regular in the boarding house, Annie thoroughly enjoys her role working closely with children, parents and staff.
Director of Operations and Co-Curricular, Director of Sport
Huw joined The Prep in 2016 following seven years in Scotland as a Senior School Housemaster and Director of Rugby. He previously worked at Blundell's School for 11 years. He is married to Becca (Year 6 class teacher and Head of English) and has two teenage sons. Huw has responsibility for the day to day running of the school, alongside the management of the Co-Curricular programme and Sport. He cites the fun loving pupil body and positive community as enjoyable aspects of his role.
Head of Pre-Prep
Heidi has been Head of Pre-Prep since 2010. Her aim is to make sure each child is happy and confident, and that all learning opportunities are tailored to their needs, embracing outdoor learning and working with our community. As a Music specialist, she ensures that there are many creative opportunities for children to develop their music as well as other performing arts during their time in Pre-Prep. Heidi has also introduced the Hemisphere Handwriting Programme to the Pre-Prep and helped to introduce the Inspire (Singapore-based) Maths programme into the school. In her spare time, she is mother to three boys, enjoys running, and is leader of the Wessex String Orchestra, the Sherborne Community orchestra and sings with the Sherborne Chamber Choir.
