At Sherborne Pre-Prep and Nursery, we are passionate about helping every child to grow and succeed in a happy and nurturing atmosphere. We know that a happy child, who feels safe and confident in their environment, will be more engaged and interested in their education. Our classes are small, and our emphasis is on active hands-on learning, ensuring that children grow in independence and confidence.

The Nursery Day

The morning session starts at 8.15am and children enjoy a healthy snack and drink together at around 10am.

The day is flexible as parents choose different session options, but the first session ends at 11.15am.

Many children stay on and enjoy our lunch session which runs from 11.15am until 12.45pm and includes a delicious cooked lunch served in the dining hall, with staff on hand to help encourage good table manners and eating habits.

After lunch we all snuggle down for rest time where children can have a snooze or read stories and play quietly together.

The afternoon session runs from 12.45pm until 3.45pm and children may then stay until 5pm in our Pre-Prep Stay and Play session.

Our children enjoy the familiar environment of the Nursery and play area but also enjoy adventures around the school site. We enjoy being part of the Sherborne community and visit places within the town to enhance our topics where appropriate.

Maths and Phonics activities take place every day and the children are encouraged to 'mark make' - the precursor to writing and drawing which allows for self-expression and helps the children to develop confidence.

Our Nursery staff are supported by subject specialists who come and work with our Nursery children through the week.

Activities include:

PE and gymnastics
