Jan 25th 2021

Milly Riquelme-Toomey has been a Piano teacher at Sherborne Preparatory School since 2017. At Sherborne Prep, Milly inspires young pianists and collaborates with the ABRSM Exams as an accompanist whilst continuing to perform extensively as a solo artist and with her Latin band, 'La Cubana'.

Graduating in Musicology with Honours from the Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) in Havana in 2006, Milly has collaborated as a musical director and pianist with Cuban Salsa and Latin bands in Havana. Joining the band Conexion Salsera as a Pianist, Milly recorded an album and collaborated with other well-known other Cuban Musicians such as Nicolas Sirgado and Mayito Ribera, pillars of the popular Cuban and Latin jazz in Cuba.

After a tour to Asia as a pianist, Milly developed a passion for jazz and moved to England to collaborate with Tom Toomey, lead guitarist of The Zombies, to record and write for the album 'Gambia'.
