Approach to Learning

The underlying approach behind all of our teaching and learning is to engage the children and to stretch their minds in every direction.

We love the buzz of a busy classroom and to see ponderous faces light up with answers. We want the children to look inwards as well as outwards; to wonder at the world around them and to understand the unique role which each of them can play in it. We nurture their strengths and encourage them to approach their learning from all angles; to weigh up a problem or consider a different viewpoint.

In all of our subjects the emphasis is on independent thought and enquiry, and encouraging the children to pursue their studies with confidence and passion.

In addition to the curriculum approach, we also encourage independent thinking through regular debates, and a programme of Saturday lectures given by visiting speakers on an impressive breadth of topics, to which parents are also most welcome.

For the Trinity Term we will be running a series of Forums for Parents.
