Monkey World near Wareham in Dorset hosted the boarders on a beautiful sunny weekend. The Rescue Centre assists governments around the world to stop the smuggling of primates from the wild. Refugees from this illegal trade as well as primates that have suffered abuse or neglect are rehabilitated into natural groups.
The children enjoyed watching the animals in their open habitats and loved hearing the primates chatting to each other. They learnt about the illegal trade in animals and how places such as Monkey World offer a second chance to some of the rescued primates. The children then put what they had learnt from watching the monkeys into practice on the adventure playground!
