It's a Monks's Life!

Our Year 4 children spent a wonderful day at Glastonbury Abbey, delving into what life might have been like as a medieval monk, and imagining the Abbey in all its glory.  They even had a go at making homemade toothpaste using salt, mint and cloves which they ground up in a pestle and mortar and rubbed on their teeth.  It was very obvious from the contortions of everyone's faces, that the homemade toothpaste was rather less palatable than the modern equivalent.

After a fascinating guided tour of the Abbey and grounds the children rather enjoyed dressing up donning monks' habits that had been specially made for children to try.
