Some more outstanding swimming from our U13 girls' team again, secured 3 gold medals and an equal 1st place at the last swimming gala of the year, hosted by Sherborne Girls' School. We took 9 girls in two age groups and they competed against 8 other schools from across the county.
Due to an injury of a key U13 swimmer, Annabel kindly agreed to swim up in the U13 age group, which meant that the U12 age group consisted purely of U11 and one U10 swimmer. The standard of Sherborne Prep swimmers was extremely high and with every child managing to break a personal best record.
Frances swam a very fast individual medley race and managed to secure the first gold for SPS, and then managed to swim a personal best in 50m breaststroke to secure the second gold. Imani then went on to break her own national record in 25m butterfly to secure the third and final gold of the day.
Annabel swam a well trained backstroke race with a perfect turn to secure a new PB and more points for the U13 team. Whilst Charlotte powered through the water with an excellent frontcrawl race and a great PB.
The U12 team of girls' also had some super swims. Many thanks to Petra who stepped in at the last minute and swam a very respectable butterfly race, whilst Amelia, Emma and Mia also swam breast stroke, IM and front crawl respectively with great enthusiasm to secure great times and valuable points for the team. Peps, the only U10 swimmer to represent SPS swam a wonderful backstroke race to include a perfect turn to come second in her heat. What a great addition to the team and a fantastic experience for such a young, yet talented swimmer.
The (very young) U12 team came 5th out of 8 teams who competed in this age group, which was a remarkable performance by each and every one of them.
Huge congratulations to the girls, who were a credit to Sherborne Prep.
