Senior Swimming Gala results

Swimming gala against Taunton Prep School Thursday 2nd Feb. 2012

Sherborne Prep senior swimming team were invited to a friendly gala at Taunton Prep School on Thursday 2nd February. The children swam very well against a very strong team - many of whom were club swimmers in Taunton. After the backstroke races, there were only three points difference between the teams, but Taunton managed to pull away and beat us by 40 points.

Final score Sherborne Prep. 219 points, Taunton Prep. 259 points.

In the individual age groups, the U13 girls beat Taunton U13 girls by 2 points and the U11 boys drew with Taunton U11 boys, each team gaining 38 points.

The swimmer of the evening for Sherborne Prep was James H who managed to beat his own personal best time by over ½ a second whilst breaking the Taunton School backstroke school record - one which had apparently been held for many years. Well done James!

The team were delighted to be able to wear their new Sherborne Prep swim team polo shirts which were kindly donated to them through money raised from the school's second hand uniform shop. Many thanks to those that donated and purchased uniform, you have all helped the swim team to look so smart poolside.

We look forward to welcoming Taunton Prep junior team to Sherborne for a gala next term.
