International singer-songwriter, Sumudu, hosted a vocal workshop at Sherborne Prep School. British songstress of Sri Lankan heritage, Sumudu has worked with musicians who include Dionne Warwick, Elvis Costello, Sir Bob Geldof and Burt Bacharach.
She took a Jazz vocal workshop for a number of pupils with a particular affinity with singing; while her husband, percussionist Mez Clough, directed a percussion workshop for aspiring musicians. She then held an afternoon workshop for pupils interested in singing, where she taught them breathing, rhythm, tone & pitch techniques while singing.
Peter Tait, Headmaster, commented that the Prep School children were extremely lucky to have such a talented artist to teach them, from a professional standpoint, how to sing and perform, while making it great fun and showing them how good they can all be when they try.
