Schoolchildren for Children

On a hot and sunny afternoon water sprayed and spilled over Preppers as they took part in an 'It's a Knock Out' style competition, helping raise funds for Schoolchildren for Children, a superb charity supported by Freddie Flintoff, Martin Johnson, Theo Walcott and Dame Kelly Holmes. The charity helps improve the lives of children in developing countries by inspiring school children in the UK to raise funds for some of the world's most disadvantaged children.

Double Olympic Champion and National Sport Champion Dame Kelly Holmes is supporting the charity and said 'With the London Olympics coming up in 2012, we have a real opportunity to inspire children to exercise and to promote a healthier future for the UK'.

Money raised by schoolchildren in the UK helps improve the lives of children in developing countries, including a school in Korogocho, one of Kenya's largest slums and home to some of the world's most disadvantaged children. Schoolchildren for Children finances an education, nutrition and medical programme for 80 AIDS orphans and children made vulnerable by AIDS at St Prisca in Korogocho. The grant provides much-needed schools uniforms, text and exercise books for the children and teaching and reference materials for a local pre-school. A daily hot meal and medical support is also available for all the children. Due to the success of the project another four schools are being set up in the neighbouring area.
