PSHE: Equal Opportunities |
Theme: A Healthy Lifestyle This half of term the main topic in PSHE will be how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, as well as certain issues surrounding self-esteem. Although some of the children have covered aspects of this before, it is useful for all to be aware of how to stay healthy, look after themselves and, most importantly, feel good. The younger year groups will focus on the ‘lifestyle’ part of the topic, with most of the attention being paid to keeping fit and eating well. For the older children, there will be incorporated into this a consideration of the role played by the media in shaping our perceptions of what is healthy versus what is not, and how the images the children are exposed to in the media affect the way they look at themselves, their appearances and their lifestyles. The aim of this is to emphasise to the children that the first part of looking after your body is making sure that you feel good about yourself! |
