Visiting the School

We hope our prospectus and website will have given you an idea of the opportunities available for your child but to really bring Sherborne Prep to life we encourage you to come and visit us in person and see for yourself our special ethos and environment. At Sherborne Prep we believe that every day should be an Open Day, and we aim to be as flexible as possible with regards to individual visits. We understand how busy family life can be, and will do our best to find a date and time that suits you.

The Headmaster will usually show you round and you will see the beating heart of the School, and have the opportunity to meet pupils and staff.

We are here to help and if you have any questions or you would like to make an appointment, please contact the Registrar, Aurora Mercer on 01935 812097 or email registrar@sherborneprep.org

Alternatively you can complete our visit request form:

How to find us

The beautiful abbey town of Sherborne is located in Dorset, but borders Somerset and Wiltshire. The town is served by several private schools, and the prep is just a short walk from the town centre, and conveniently situated between the boys' and the girls' senior schools.

The nearest airports are Bristol, Exeter and Southampton. We are happy to arrange transfers from Heathrow or Gatwick if needed. We use a properly vetted and highly reliable Dorset taxi company who specialise in escorting unaccompanied minors to and from airports throughout the South West of England, for many of the Dorset independent schools.

Sherborne town railway station has a mainline, direct train to London, Waterloo every hour. Children are escorted by a member of staff from Dorset to London Waterloo. We are just 2 hours from London.

Sherborne Prep is easily accessible by road (please see the map below for directions). Once in the main School Drive please park half way up on the left opposite the tennis courts and you will find the reception at the top of the drive on the left through the front door.

Thank goodness that the Prep, with all its foibles and idiosyncracies remains an island of calm and good sense in an uncertain world - or so we like to believe...
